I'm planning on giving a C130 swept wings and need some assistance in suggestions for donors of appropriate wings. I'm currently thinking scaleoraming  1/144 airliner wings but don't want to buy a kit if they won't fit or will be too small curently I'm thinking 747 or 767

I've got a set of 144 scale 747 wings in the stash; I'll measure them in a couple of days.

For a project I'm planning, I found that the Airbus A320 wing has about the same 'max-take-off' lift capability as the Transall C160 wing (might be a bit better actually)
If I'm not building models, I'm out riding my dirtbike

Interesting concept! I presume your model is 1/72? The 747 in tiddler scale has a wingspan of 19". However, scaling them up to 1/72 would probably give you a model not too far short of the C-130s 132 ft span. In any case, the efficient high lift devices on the swept wing would presumably negate the possibly reduced span?

I LIKE this idea!!! Will you be using turboprops for your model or, will this be a pure jet powered aircraft?

Loves JMNs but could never eat a whole one!!

not decided yet  possibly keep the 747 engines if suitable or possibly give it engines like the Russian Bear although probably not contra prop

If I may make a suggestion here, how about the CFM-56 engine? These produce 24-25000 lbs thrust In fact, a pair of CFM -56s would probably provide more than enough power for a fully loaded Herc? If you can get hold a pair they'd probably fit under the 747 wings without too much bother?

The C-130's 132' 6" wingspan scales out to about 22" in 1/72, the span of a 1/144 747-400 is about 17.5" (earlier model 747s are around 16.25").

Thanks everyone  ;D

so not too far off as to look out of place
