I was lucky enough to find a copy of the Hornet kit, but have discovered that the original canopy has a void in it that cannot be patched. Any chance someone has a surplus canopy for this kit? Injected or vac-form would be welcome.

TIA
Tony

Hi
Why don't you make the canopy into a plug and plunge mould a few new ones from acetate?
just a thought.

Tony, in the past I've managed to get spare parts from Magna Models for the Hornet.  There's a fellow on Britmodeller who is now the UK agent for Magna who could probably help you with some vacuform canopies.  I believe he goes by the username ian75 or something like that. I can't check right now as there appears to be a problem with the forum website.  At least I can't get on it right now.

Chris57 is the dude you want.  Top bloke too, I've known him from the shows for some years now.

However, the Magna canopy won't fit the Frog kit.  I have tried.  IF you can salvage the windscreen, the back section could possibly be positioned open, but you'd need to do a great deal of upgrade work in the cockpit as it's soooooo bare.  There's an excellent article in Scale Aircraft Modelling from some years back on updating the Frog/Novo Hornet.

Thank you all for the guidance - I'll get on it ASAP.

Try an Airfix Hunter for the rear section of the canopy.  IIRC, the apperture is roughly the same size.  The lip aft of the cockpit opening on the Frog Hornet fuselage is supposedly the rear framing.

Tried it last night and it should work with some fettling.  Windscreen angle is too shallow but the plastic is thick enough to reshape it.

Lee, I don't have an Airfix Hunter in the stash, but am hoping to pick one up at either of the shows coming to Texas in September.
I did have a look at a Matchbox Hunter canopy, and while that one is too wide, it proves the shape will work just as you said.
