Ed & Hobbes - thanks! I don't know why I blanked out on the simplest solution.

When I thought I might get into making resin casts, I bought some "microballoons" that supposedly stop "bubbles" from forming in resin casts.

I have not tried these w/superglue as a filling---anyone??

Yes, I also use the plastic-strip-softened-with-liquid-cement trick and it works very well.

I also occasionally use CLEAR DECAL to put over cracks if I know I am not going to be sanding in the same area!
My mind is like a compost heap: both "fertile" and "rotten"!

"Talc" is merely powdered gypsum. An easy source for that is "drywall" from construction sites. A foot-square piece should provide enough "powder" to last a LOOONG time!

They work, but the microballoons are a bit larger than your typical talc grain so the result is coarser. The advantage of buying regular baby butt talc is that (besides the smell...) the particles are uniformly small, so the talc+superglue mix is pretty smooth.

arkon

as far as normal glue it works just fine for smal stuff, any biger then 1/8 gap, not good use some plastic /evergreen card to fill
the plastic gods demand sacrifice
