The Martin SeaMaster's hull is a good fit and I've sawn off it's engines and mounted them to the rear of my Airfix 1/144 SRN-4 Hovercraft project 'Colossus' they sit above the turbines. Not sure if there was ever a jet powerd hovercraft, there is one now!!

Yeah I know, but I mean just in shape terms. By all means replace the radome with a good, solid hull!
Hmm...I see what you mean.  How about raising the wings, or the intakes to keep the engines out of the spray, and maybe a retractable hydroski,
a' la SeaDart?

The original SRN1 hovercraft had a Turbomeca Somethingorother added to its aft deck in its later years. so you have some precendant for that.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)
