Soviet Tank Markings Query

Hey Guys, a Question i've often Wondered about has Caused me to Query:is it Typical for Soviet Tanks to have Numbers on Either the Hull or Turret? i was Watching a Video on youtube when the Question kinda came to the Forefront. have some plans but thought i'd get this Question out of the Way First. what Say You? thanks for looking.Dan

Dan, everything I've seen suggests that numbers are about the only distinguishing feature of Soviet armour from a side view.  On occasion, there were patriotic slogans and the like on their wartime vehicles, but peacetime markings were routinely mundane. 

That said, there are plenty of Russian language websites dealing with Soviet armour that might beg to differ, but my grasp of most things Cryllic is sketchy at best.
