I first found out about the Dana a while back when I was browsing the net.  Bored out of our skulls at an ex-workplace me & a mate thought up a 'Get Rich Quick' scheme.  We'd start a 'tank driving' business, kind of went down the pan when we realised how much effort it would be, or rather, how much money it would be!  Still, we found out that you could get ex-MOD & especially ex-Soviet equipment very cheaply.  A few years later, I'm having a look for through the Army Surplus sites to chuckle at our old scheme & I saw a Dana for sale to the UK on the Private Market!!!

Trev, I'm kind of the opposite with armour, I've an Airfix Chieftan & Scorpion, & JB Models Landie & Bedford 4 tonner in the stash that I can't think of what to do with.  I thinks it simply because I don't know a lot about armour, it came fairly quickly with the Elefant-Gepard/PzH 2000 combo but only because I happend to flick through the Pocketbond catalogue while the Dana was still fresh in my mind.  I do have another soft skinned vehicle in my stash that is getting the whiff treatment. Hoping to have ready for Telford, keeping it under my hat for now!
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

QuoteFunnily enough Geoff, I've had thoughts on those lines, but mounting the PzH 2000 or a Gepard AA turret on Revells Faun Elefant tank transporter.  Modify the cab to add a bit of armour it & you have a German Dana!  Thought about the Gepard turret to make it a little different, trouble is there's no 1/72 kit that I know of.  You could do it in 1/35 with Trumpeters Elefant & Tamiya's Gepard, (don't know if there's a PzH 200 kit in 1/35) although it'd be on the dear side (£60 total for both kits).  I'll probably never build it, unless we have a specific armour build or something.

Thanks Geoff, like you say, on the dear side but I might spend that much if I'm really up for building this combo in the future.  Or I might save myself eight quid & go for the PzH 2000 that t'other Geoff posted!
