Hi there

Can anyone help me find a 3-view of the De havilland C.24 autogyro of 1931, it's for a story I and Mav are working on.

Thanks in advance.

Nada in any of my DH or giro refs.

Brooks Cierva Autogiros states that it was "intended to carry three people in a cabin of the same layout
as the de Havilland D.H.80A light plane." and "a folding 34 ft (10.36 m) three-blade cantilever rotor that was
also adopted for the production C.19 Mk.IV." He also notes that the aircraft could barely lift two people and
was therefore usually flown as a single-seater.

So, based on that, a Puss Moth is probably your best starting point for basic shape, and add the rotors from a C.19 Mk. IV.
Moth III/Puss Moth 3-view from the Flight archive:
http://www.flightglobal.com/pdfarchive/view/1930/untitled0%20-%200480.html
You'll note the staggered arrangement of the passenger seats visible in the top-view.

Dimensions (combination of data from Brooks and Putnam De Havilland Aircraft since 1909) :
Rotor span: 34 ft.
OAL (rotors folded): 23 ft, 8 in.
Fuselage length: 20 ft.
Wingspan: 19 ft, 6 in.

Thanks for all your efforts.  I shall pass the pics on to Maverick to see if he is able to make something from them.

You may find that the De Havilland Aircraft Heritage Center might be able to help, as the real one still exists and is on display there.

Also you might want to give De Havilland Support Ltd a call or something, they are an outfit in the UK that has all the De Havilland aircraft manuals for the general aviation aircraft and provide new and second hand parts for all the De Havilland aircraft that are still flying today (not Mosquitos though).  It was at this place that the De Havilland DH.101 (Sabre Mosquito) drawings were discovered, tucked away inside a manual not in any way related to it, along with the Jet Mosquito drawings

Gentlemen

Thankyou for you previous efforts, brilliant as always.

But, now I must ask for your assistance once more.

Does anyone have or know of a 3-view or profile of the following helicopters:

  • Hiller model 1099 (or ten99)
  • Sikorsky XH-59A (S-69)
  • Both Bell and Sikorsky ACAP

Thanks in advance
