Apart from my 1/72 C-5 and 747's, I have all the big boys in 1/144 scale, C-5 Galaxy, A380, An 124 and 747.  I want to display them with a 1/144 scale Spitfire so that viewers can get a good perspective of them, but as I'm not really into this scale, what's available which is quite good and reasonably priced ?

The first one I found is this: http://www.petersplanes.com/avions/Spitfire/Mk%20XIVe/XIVe.htm

As an alternative, you could use a Harrier instead.

Thanks Harro, the Harrier might be a better option, more modern I think.

That Harrier comes in various guises too, either as a SHAR or a GR1, moulded by Crown originally, then by Minicraft (I think) and finally  by Revell. Revell also do a 1/144 GR5 IIRC.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage

The one pictured is the Minicraft SHAR. Revell does a couple of variants: GR5, AV8B and B+. There's also the Dragon GR7/9.

There aren't many 1/144 WW2 aircraft around, at least not from mainstream companies.

The GR1 and SHAR all came from the same original Crown kit AFAIK.

I have loads of both types, for my 1/144 scale 'Atlantic Conveyor' project, from all of the manufacturers and they're all from the same original moulding. It looks like one of them converted the GR1 moulds to a SHAR at some stage, as just about the only difference is the nose forward of the intakes. A pity they didn't do a GR3 with the laser nose, I've had to go into production on those!

Revell and Pit-Road do nice 1/144 Eurofighter/Thypoons...

Otherwise the only decent spitfires are indeed peters and or the recent F-Toys releases at a push.
The old crown/minicraft/21s Century ones are horrors

Hi BD!  Sweet may be making one at some point, but if one is needed today, I'll second the Peter Hawkins resin and the ftoys collectors model. Also, recommend everyone stay away from the resin Spit from Kamide Koro- Koro, its just plain squishy....

Robert,

many years ago Revel did a series of 1/144 scale WW2 fighters, the Spitfire was one of them. I built one of them along with several others for a mobile to put over my son's cot, this at least tells me how long ago, about 36/37 years!
I still have them all somewhere and I will dig it out and post a photo.

Alle kunst ist umsunst wenn ein engel auf das zundloch brunzt!!

Sic biscuitus disintegratum!

Cats are not real.
They are just physical manifestations of collisions between enigma & conundrum particles.

Any aircraft can be improved by giving it a SHARKMOUTH!

Sweet do a very good Hurricane if thats an alternative for you.

Hi Robert,
here is a photo of the Revel Spit.

Currently minus one u/c leg, one wing canon, and the radio mast.

The kit was a Mark I/II which I converted to a MarkV in USAAC markings.

I will have a look in the box for the other U/C leg.

If you want it, PM me.

Some other possibles are the Platz Hellcat f6f and the Sweet Wildcat, which is a small plane to begin with, in fact if you do the wing folded, you could possibly put two of them side-by-side inside the galaxy, tight fit. And it so happens that a lot of these Sweet and Platz birds come two to the box.

If you want to keep to Lockheed products, think about an F-104, that can nearly park inside too.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions (and offer , thanks Jim).  I've certainly got some worthy subjects to consider
