Hi some of you may know me form other forums, ive recently got into the Wif game and thought id show you the beginings of my Atlantian fleet

The Island of Atlas lies 400 miles south east of the Spanish sea port of Cadiz in the Atlantic Ocean. The island covers an area of 121 Sq miles with a population of approximately 410,000 people.

The islands political structure has remained largely unchanged from ancient times and has a democratic basis run by elected representatives from the general population. The military reports to the elected leader but both can not act without consent from the `La asamblea de ciudadanos`, (citizens' assembly).
The language of the island is very similar, if not the same as Spanish, and it is understood that thousands of years ago dissidents from the island fled to the mainland and in due course the state of Spain was created.

Atlas capital city Atlantis is based on the east coast of the island and it`s history can be traced back to around 9600 BC. The island was first mentioned in Plato's dialogues Timaeus and Critias, written about 360 BC and it was well known to be a great naval sea power that conquered many parts of Western Europe and Africa around 9,000 years ago. But like all great ancient super powers, it took one major failure to almost destroy it`s civilization. In this case it is understood to be the failed Athenian invasion of Sicily in 415–413 BC. It is shortly after this event that the Atlantians became isolationists and for the next 1500 years nothing was heard from them and the island forgotten by the rest of the world.

It wasn`t until the advent of sea and ocean going vessels from Europe that in the late 15 to 1600`s that the island came back into the spotlight. With the Atlantians being isolationists and fiercely territorial of their waters, many an attempt by European powers to make contact lost a number of ships sent to the region. It wasn`t until the mid 1900`s, after a major flu epidemic, that diplomatic ties were opened with European and North African nations. Trade relations between Atlas and various states soon followed, however it was made clear to all that the island nation wanted to stick to it`s isolationist principles.

The military arm of the island soon began acquiring defensive measures from all over as well as producing indigenous types. During World War One the island took on a neutral role. If any nation, irrespective of being from The Entente Powers, (France, Great Britain), or The Central Powers, (Austria-Hungary, Germany), violated the Atlas perimeters, they were met with deadly force. Commanders on both sides soon learnt to give the island a very wide berth.

When World War two broke out Atlas took the same position as it had in the previous conflict. By now however it has learnt that it still needed to acquire raw materials and weapons of war to defend itself and it maintained trade relations with all the conflict participants.

On the 25th of November 1944 all that changed. In a case of mistaken identity, a German U-boat sighted and sunk a merchant vessel 40 miles off the East African killing 408 Atlantian women and children who were on their way back to Atlas. While the war was by this time going badly for the Germans, everyone was aware of the ferocity of the Atlas armed forces and within 24 hours ships, aircraft and soldiers were on their way to the European mainland after the Atlas government quickly passed a bill to join the Allied forces to `extract revenge` for this atrocity.

Although the war only lasted a further 5 months, all the armed forces gained a formidable reputation for their professional fighting skills with the army generally being widely regarded as the world`s first `special forces` unit, albeit in large scale with 96,000 members.

With access to the Allies vast war machine, the Atlantis Fuerza Aérea, (Atlantis Air Force), Atlantis Armada Aérea, (Atlantis Naval Air Arm) and Atlantis Ejército Aire Corp, (Atlantis Army Air Corp), gained numerous modern aircraft types to add to their airbourne arsenal. These aircraft were kept and taken back to Atlas at the end of the conflict.

With peace returning to the area, Atlas reverted back to it`s pre war policy as a neutral state that didn`t endear to `visitors`. With the Cold War heating up by late 1949 plans were put in place to modernise the armed forces and this policy is still in place today with many modern types in front line service.

an update.....

as the Atlantian air force realised with modern terrorism on the rise and pirates in the sea's it had to join the world comunity. there had been several airspace breaches from suspected Argentinan aircraft and the who were fully aware that prior permission to enter Atlantian airspace was required or angressive defence would be made.

on the second attempt to probe the Atlantian airspace a pair of atlantian fighters were scrambled, and both 'enemy' fighters were destroyed, but at the loss of one aircraft. this was bad news Atlantis was beging to loose the edge!, this was a major factor in the continuing allaince with some NATO countries. Atlantis agreed to allow pre planned and emergency divert aircraft from the UK and USA to land at Atlantian military bases to repair and refuel, in exchange the UK and USA agreed to share all current viable technology with Atlantis and plans were then forwarded

the result was the development of the S (Strike) A (attack) 20, the SA 20 looked like one of its contempories but on the inside it used technology of its own intermixed with that of the US and UK, making a quicker, more hard hitting aircraft then the rest, the result the .....

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Good work!
May I ask a little question? Spear, Blade, and Mantaray... According to your backstory, Atlantean language is Spanish (or very similar). Why are their aircraft have English names?
