Last spring, at one of our local club meetings, we had some Testors Ryan Spirit Of St Louis models left over from a "make and take" event. A couple of the other club members challenged me to "do something" unique with the kit. The result is this autogyro. The Rotor and blades are from an old helicopter kit that was Whiffed a couple years ago. I added a cockpit on the top of the fuselage. The struts for the rotor support are from the landing gear of the original kit. I did have to make some mods to the landing gear so it would fit without the wings for support.

We don't just embrace insanity here.  We feel it up, french kiss it and then buy it a drink.

What a great way to kick off 2012 Ed.

LOVE it!  ;D
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Regards
Kit

I always hope for the best.
Unfortunately,
experience has taught me to expect the worst.

Living close to former "Ryan Aeronautical" where the "Spirit of St. Louis" was built, I approve! The company logo below MIGHT have appeared on the tail!

My mind is like a compost heap: both "fertile" and "rotten"!

That is a fine creation.
In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.
