Happy New Year!!!!!
As a little new year's present, I'd like to draw to the attention of all Whiffers the following techniques and methods that I've been using recently to reasonable effect.
1. I've been airbrushing Humbrol matt varnish of late and it works well and saves me on the expensive Testor's canned stuff---the needle in the chuck is fine for restoring panel lines and the needle protrudes about 20mm from the chuck---and my greatest find in 2011 was this Tamiya thin cement: great stuff!!!!

2. I came across this in the cake section of the supermarket and it contained a jam rolly-polly sort of cake--I discarded the useless cake (yeah! sure!) and now use the container when I paint small parts or use clear varnish on canopies--it's great for keeping dust at bay

3. Here's something I knocked up in ten minutes from cardboard and it keeps my planes steady when glue is drying or when putting on a coat of paint

4. And here is Allan's modelling grotto on New Year's Day 2012--still a shambles but soooo welcoming!!!

I've read reports here and there that suggest that this particular Humbrol varnish can yellow over time. I've been using Humbrol Mattcote/Glosscote instead, which done't have this problem.
