Interesting.  Weapons in that time period in RL could be the following on the F-111C:

Iron bombs
Laser guided bombs
Harpoon missiles
Sidewinders
Vulcan 20mm (in the weapons bay - not really going to work with a Vigilante though).
Popeye standoff missiles (officially adopted, never deployed though, as far as I am aware).
Reconnaissance pallet.

Of course, you might want to throw some whiff missiles in with the whiff plane.

I suppose the Recon palet could be revised to create a gun mounting although it could be a cannon as opposed to a Gatling gun ?

Where there any locally developed RAAF air launched weaponry, i recall spellbinder mentioning a Cluster Bomb developed locally and now in a museum ?

A Pave Tack pod grafted on in place of the recce pack might look quite good too.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

This'll be nice!

Definately, something like the NR.349 arrangement Geoff?
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Never head of a cluster bomb.

DSTO developed a glide bomb and a GPS guided version as well.  Called GTV and Kerkanya, respectively they had apparently a modular warhead design and were very accurate.

Carlo Kopp has a webpage on them.  Unfortunately, it never reached production.

As to the utility of the Vulcan on the F-111, I've often had my doubts and the Sidewinders were obviously intended for self-defence rather than necessarily fighter duties, per se.

Look up "Karinga cluster bomb", that was going to be a locally produced munition

(At work at the moment so firewall filters would prevent a viable search for suitable links)

Well, the RAAF did upgrade its F-111s' avionics to digital and remanufacture the wings.

You mention the Ginter book - is it any good?  Does it have much detail on the RAAF's interest in the A-5?
