OK silly question time - I am building a ground attack Meteor FGA 8  and want to sling a couple of bombs or a gun pod under the fuselage. Looking in the stash of bits/kits I have a few of the low drag 250 lbs bombs from the Strikemaster, and the bombs from a Jag GR-1 (Hase boxing) which I think might be cluster bombs. Are the low drag 250lbers ok for a late 50s plane?

AFAIK the RAF were still using up their stock of WWII era bombs in the '50s. I've seen a comment to that effect in here not that long ago too.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Kit

Cheers -  so something from a Hampden would not be totally wrong then?

Just had another look around and I have some bombs from an Airfix Canberra and a Jag that look like they may do the job.

I have a nice photo of a Vampire FB5 carrying two 1000lb bombs - they're the standard GP bombs like these ones: http://studysupport.info/vulcanbomber/P1020095.jpg

I think these are the standard GP type that are still in use today, so your Jag might well have some. The cluster bombs are fatter than these, and are constant cross-section for most of the body's length:

The current 100lb bomb is basically identical to that used from the the 50's IIRC, it's just the tails that differ.  There are countless tail types, if you can't find the right one it should be possible to reshape a current one to match.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Thanks Pyro, the ones in the Jag kit are the same as those.

Thanks everyone -sorted.

Cheers Geoff.
