Major progress this weekend. If anyone wants to "donate" a Tamiya BB63 stern crane and some 40mm gun tubs, I'll make it worth your while

Fine work, sir! If I can find said parts amongst my stash, I should like to aid you in your goal.

Thanks for the offer! However, I regret to inform the viewers of this thread the USS New England has been scrapped- at least down to the main deck. I had to use major parts to proceed with this instead:

So this is another 30s design heavily upgraded in '42-'43. 34.25" scales to 998.96 feet OAL. My added dreadnought style torpedo belt brings the waterline beam to 120'. 4 catapults, 2 hanger, and 12 16"50s. So, what to name this nice, roomy "maximum battleship"?

Post (1st) South Dakota class? Names of that class were South Dakota, Indiana, Montana, North Carolina, Iowa, and Massachusetts. Only SoDak and Mass were actually started.

If it's post SoDak, you might consider replacing the main guns with twin 18".

Since you are building a BB that was never built, how about naming it for a state that didn't make it?  the Deseret, Franklin, Houston, or Sequoyah?  The Sequoyah with 18 inchers would be perfect.

I've got a list of about 39 "almost states" based on a book called Lost States.  With it and real universe names, I've also got seven more territories for the US in addition to some of the territories we already have.

PM me with your e-mail address, and I'll share my insanity.

Took a break from the USS Kentucky this weekend and started salvaging the hull of the New England, a pocket battleship for the Reaganavy ;D

Nice neat workmanship there
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

I love what you're doing!

It reminded me of two HO-scale car projects I did for my brother's train layout. I took two 1954 Cadillac kits, cut the middle out of one to stretch it into a "stretch limo". Fine. Then....I looked at what I had left over, and made a nifty two-seater (like a wider, early-style luxury Corvette)!! One long, one short!

Looks like you are doing that with the "Iowa"s--making the shorter "New England" and a stretched "Montana"-type!!

Good on ya!
My mind is like a compost heap: both "fertile" and "rotten"!

Well, there you are! Very nice.
