yesterday, me and a group of 50 friends and other people, made a visit to Koksijde Air Base, home of Belgiums Sea King and Alouette III fleet (yes, i know, there's something about me and Sea Kings  )

during this visit, we had a chance to look at the Maintainance hanger, the Airfield Fire Dept., the hangars of the 40th Squadron,...

here are a few pics of my visit, the rest can be found on my webpage 8)

Some good photos there. :) What is the story behind all the bits on the wall with names written on them?

And Mirages! You can never have enough of those IMO. :)
Some of my models can be found on my Flickr album >>>HERE<<<

ah yes forgot to mention that, thats the Fire Dept. wall of the fallen (literally), the parts are from aircraft that crashed on the base over the past 65 years.
there are parts there from F-104's, Meteors, Spitfire's and HSS1/S-58's, recreational aircraft,...
the parts with the crosses on them indicate the pilot didnt make it  :-\

Ahh, I see. I thought it might be something along those lines, but I wasn't sure.

Is the S-58 in the top photo still a flier Nils? Or is it a grounded museum exhibit?
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

unfortunatly, its a ground exibit, the HSS-1's stopped flying in 1986  :-\
there's still one airworthy, flown by a private collector in Germany and painted in German Army colors (serial D-HAUG)
