After looking at Far 148's excellent Canadian F-4 earlier, it got me wondering what other engine nozzles would fit and F-4 to bring it more up to date. I was thinking of F-15 E nozzles, but would they be too wide for the fuselage. I want to do another couple of upgrade phantoms for my Honduras air force, and make them as modern weapon and avionics wise as possible as well as up grading their engines.

The PW1120 was designed for just that purpose (as well as to power the IAI Lavi): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PW1120

Hornet engine nozzles will fit (just tried it) and are pretty close to the right look.
Some of my models can be found on my Flickr album >>>HERE<<<

Hey Chris.......what about the nozzles from the F14D.....the engines of the D version were very good by all accounts......imagine there be plenty about after the USN scrapped them.....

I have thought about modelling an in service Kurnass 2000 but the problem is getting hold of suitable exhausts that look like the PW1120 other than buying Levi kits simply for the nozzles which is a ridiculous way of getting hold of them.

Hya Hank, I would have to dig out an F-14 kit, which is along with all my other stuff buried away. If they fit on the model they would probably look good. I was looking at the Israeli super phantom too Gondor, and I totally agree that buying a couple of Levi kits would not be a viable scenario.
I think a pair of hornet or Tomcat ones are looking favourite. I can't for the life of me remember what it was I used on the phantom I built a while back, the one with the conformal tanks fitted, I am sure I put alternative items on it but what.....hmm?

Hey there mate - I have F-14 nozzles to spare.  Do you want?  And what else might you need?

chrisonord

hya Jay, they could be very useful to me if they fit an F-4, do you have an F-4 in 1/72nd scale in your possession you could test fit them to?? I don't want to have to cut big chunks out of anything to get them to fit really so if they are nearer than damn it they would be great please Jay. The only other thing I have been looking for and have done since I got back in to modelling, is a 1/72nd scale AN-14 Belchem I know PM and NuBee did one, but they are rocking horse poo.
Cheers,
Chris

As it happens, I do have an F-4 handy - I'll check.
