I was convinced it was one of Italeris Do217 that had both types of engines but none of the reviews mention them that I've found so far. MAybe it was a Junlers 88 I was thinking of . Does anyone know which kit or kits have both engines.

Airfix Do217 perhaps?  Didn't they knock out one of the Do217 nightfighters on the basis of their venerable Do217 bomber kit?  I have a dim memory of reading that many years ago.

The Airfix Do217 has parts for the E and J versions, both of which had radials. Italeri Do217s do come with radials (J,K) or in line engines (M,N) but not in the some box AFAIK.

Both the Hasegawa and Italeri Ju 188 have the BMW radials and Jumo 213 inlines (albeit with an annular radiator).  The AMT Ju 88G came with both BMW and Jumo engines too.  The Amtech Ju 88S *might* have had both but I never got that kit.

Italeri always kept the 217 engine options in separate boxes, thus getting more sales from those who wanted the alternate variants buying more to cross kit them.

On that principle, Airfix won't release a Seafire 15 in 48th when they've a Spitfire FXII and Seafire XVII for modellers to cross kit. Or a Spitfire XIV in 72nd when you can do it from their IXc and PR19.

cheers everyone .

It must be the 188 I remembered.

There was never a Radial engine HE 111 at least not in German Service

Couple were test flown with radials but none saw military service.  There *might* have been a few of the pre war civil ones that flew with radials.

Am toying with the idea of doing an HE111 night fighter and am wondering about giving it  some radials for a different look.

deathjester

The Matchbox Heinkel He 70 had both, and the ICM Dornier 215 version of the Do 17 had inline engines (recon version)

There was one radial engined He 111 - I recall only one picture - I started a 72 scale conversion but ........

Don't forget the Hasegawa Ju 88G-6 (1/72 scale), the G-6 comes with both engine types.

In 1937 China purchased He 111A-0s after the war one transport was converted to Cyclone radials. Thats a whiff just begging.
