This is not a complaint at any one person specifically and is not really a complaint at all, though some may see this as such. This is a request, nothing more. A simple little request that is easy to do.

What if people said that they had sent items they had promised to send so that the receiver knew the item was on its way.

What if people who were receiving items said to the sender that the item had been received.

What if people used please and thank you more often.

I don't ask for much, just a few second of everyones time to send a message weather its to inform someone of something or simply to say thank you. Its just a few second but can change an opinion about you which may end up with your receiving help rather than being ignored in the future.

But, Gondor, if people were that much more polite what would we do with all the unemployed Police Officers?

Absolutely agree with you mate. Always do the things you suggest when selling or buying on EBay etc. Mind you now I'm retired it does mean I have more time to be polite and I'm not being flipant with that comment
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

It would be nice wouldn't it?  People used to be before the "me, me, me!" generation came to be.  It'd be nice if we could go back to before then and stay that way...

My sister practices what is known in our family as VENOMOUS COURTESY  to those of little brain  who offend her. It just bounces off them, but it makes those of discernment who hear the exchange chuckle to themselves!

It would be nice, wouldn't it?

Yes, it would.

And take it into business/corporate ethics as well.

Maybe even into politics...or is that asking a bridge too far?

I strive, two hours every day, toward an unreasonable level of reasonableness. I find it elevates the depressed,
engages the distant, and befuddles the bureaucratic.

No, I don't think its a bad idea at all.

Once upon a time, when I was a private service EMT, I was always the one that got sent to patients' homes and facilities when other staff for the company I worked for f'd up, because I was *always* courteous to them, no matter how much I despised the patient or facility...and we had some beauts-- Governor St, in the city of Paterson NJ, could double as a post apocalyptic movie set.

In politics? Definitely.

The problem I have is, remembering who has asked for what from my spare parts stash. As I don't have my own PC or laptop I use post-it notes or scrap pieces of paper.
I can recall my Sergeant writing a letter to the Iraqis asking them to be more considerate during the Gulf War 1990-1991. As bullets cost money and it's difficult to shoot someone whilst they are running away, so would they mind standing still instead?

There is no excuse for bad manners and good manners need no excuse. The bad part is having to race ladies to hold the door. I because I was raised to be nice, them because of my (percieved) age.  :banghead:
I once held the door for a lady with her arms full of packages when it was pouring down rain. She stopped outside the door and asked (Venomously) "Are you holding that because of my sex"? I answered "No, your age" and let the door swing shut. Why did I get in trouble? She was the one scraming and cussing!
