Here's my 1/72 Hobbycraft Argentinian Armada CAF-105.  This thing was actually done about two weeks too late for the Latin America contest.

It was a land-based maritime strike and interceptor aircraft that entered service while the Argentinian carrier Cruz Meridional was in refit in the 60's.  It was a standard CF-105, except that it also had air-to-surface capabilities incorporated in.  It could undertake long range maritime patrol missions, patrolling far off Argentina's coast.  They worked in conjunction with the Armada's F-4J(Ar)'s during the Falklands conflict to inflict heavy damage on the HMS Queen Elizabeth (a CVA-01 carrier) and harrass the remaining fleet elements.  The last of the CAF-105's were retired about 1998.

oh yeah?

i heard that sea lightnings, sr.177's and p1154's swatted them from the sky with consumate ease.  :ar:

great model (again), and a scheme that i had never imagined for the arrow - man, when you build, you build in BULK...  :D

Heh, what I failed to mention was that the outcome was unchanged, except more of the Argentinian Navy found itself looking up from the bottom of the Atlantic, and Argentina's carrier was made useless by being torpedoed.  The Argie Arrows harrassed the remaining fleet elements (another CVA-01, three Maltas, and a handful of other carriers), until being driven back to shore when the RN got their fighter pilots out of bed.

Woah.....now there's no excuse for me missing this one, or for you not pointing it out to me !

<_<

Absolutely brilliant ! I think with some anti-ship missiles you would have done alot more than just harass the RN. And pity the SHAR trying to mess with that bird !

Great idea, Anthony !

Love this paint scheme! The Arrow seems to be quite a popular subject for what-if's.

Captain Canada

yes grasshopper....one of the true greats, that bird !

Anthony, you put any SHAR kill marks on that thing yet ?

No, not yet.  Believe it or not, I don't have any kill markings that aren't ship kills.  Not even any Vietnam Mig kills, and I've got a lot of Vietnam era decals!

But that's ok, I'm sorta busy with what I'm building right now.  When I get some kill markings, I'll apply them, but until then, I'll continue to build up my next batch of posts  :dum:

As a fan of the Falklands conflict that Arrow looks like it's a great fit. Nice work on that. B)

Looks good. Is it me or does just about any plane look good in those colors? I'd like to see a Crusader, Thunderchief, or Skyraider( ) done up in those colors. Right now I'm working on a Testor's Corsair(a real dog of a kit) and it will eventually end up in those markings. Later.
