WHIF Martin Bomber

I was looking at the Martin B-10/B-12 and I can't help but notice some similarities the forward fuselage has to the Avro-Lancaster's.  Think about it, the nose cone is located relatively low with a turret up top, with a canopy located above and behind it.  You could easily morph the nose of the B-10 into a Lancaster's nose.

Well wouldn't it be interesting if Martin decided rather than create a modified B-10 (Modified Model 146), to build something like an American Lancaster to rival the B-17 and B-18?  There would inevitably be some differences including the following

• Engines: 4 x V-1710's or 4 x R-1830's
  
• Cockpit: 2 pilots instead of a single pilot
  
• Probably some differences in wing design.
  
• Landing Gear: Forward folding rather than aft folding, and a nose-gear (The XB-16 featured this)
  
• Different wing design: Maybe something similar in overhead to a Supermarine Sea-Fire F.46 (admittedly this doesn't look much different than the Martin 146)
  
• Tail-fin design: More like the B-24 or B-25

Martin designed the XB-33A with some of the features you are talking about. The V-shaped empennage BTW is similar to the one used on PBM-5 Mariner.

The XB-33A isn't really what I'm looking for.  I'm looking more for an Americanized Lancaster
