Here it is, the 1/100 scale Tamiya Me 163 I finished the other day. I had to wait a few days for the weather to clear enough to get these pics.
This models camouflage was painted freehanded with the airbrush, the only masking needed was for the canopy and for painting the yellow nose cone. The narrow black outline on the edge of the yellow nose cone was hand painted with a small paint brush.
Markings were a problem because the kits decal sheet was not very good so I used a mix of kit decals and modified decals from my spares box to come up with the markings for ''yellow 7'' a Me 163 operated by JG 400 at Husum in April 1945.

Nice Komet! If I remember that kit correctly, it was a Me -163 and a 262 in one box. The only smaller 163 was a 1/144 Gashapon or "pre-built" from Popy of Japan in the Luft 46 series. It was maddeningly small and always getting tipped on its side if I walked too fast past its diorama (slipstream!).

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Bloody hell Matrix, I know you've got superior skills but you have surely surpassed yourself with THIS little gem. It's a seriously beautiful little masterpiece...

The pic of the Komet with the "giant quarter" reminded me of Yap island "Rai" coins made of stone, sometimes ten feet in diameter! Aha! A Yap-Island Komet??
My mind is like a compost heap: both "fertile" and "rotten"!

Stunning build of a tiny subject

Thanks guys!
I appreciate the feedback.

When I went to paint this model I ran out of my usual Model Master paint and was forced to use a tin of Xtracolor RLM 82 enamel and at first was not happy with the way the color looked but after the flat clear coat was sprayed on the model it looked a lot closer to the intended shade of paint.

Now that this little 1/100 scale Komet is off the work bench I opened up one of my Academy 1/72 scale Komet kits and started on it, I am building a what-if Me 163S complete with the transport vehicle.

My other what-if (1/48 scale) is not going very well and might just bin the damned thing. :banghead:

There are far smaller versions available, have a look here

I personaly have the STARMinatures kit, somewhere in the stash, but it is rather small and at the moment I can not find it  :banghead:

They are just physical manifestations of collisions between enigma & conundrum particles.

Any aircraft can be improved by giving it a SHARKMOUTH!
