In WW 1 the Tribal destroyers HMS Zulu and Nubian were salvaged by having their  front and rear reconnected to form HMS Zubian

No as the Arethusa and Dido classes were related in hull design could the same have been with them to have  a half 6 inch half 5.25 inch cruiser. should the circumstances occurr where 2 halves were available and salvageable.

i very much doubt it, although they had related hulls the internal fittings were very diffrent, as even amongst sister ships unless they were built in the same yard like Zulu and Nubian, the steam pipes , cable runs runs etc were in difrent places etc.

Honestly, it's the honest ones you have to watch out for!!!

If you did manage it, you'd have to change the guns either up or down to match.  No captain would want to go into battle if he could avoid it with two different weapons as his main guns.   It would complicate fire control and ranging.

Even if built in the same yard it would be rare to be able to do this as almost every ship underwent alterations & modifications as they were being built, so that no 2 ships were actually the same, which is why a really good spotter/look-out could frequently identify individual ships, rather than just their class.
