I have some CAP Aero F/A 18s and some mountford F/A 18s- size difference is very profound- anyone here know which is more accurate? I suspect the mountford ones are correct.

Also- the mountford F/A 18s came in a pack of 3- all 3 of them have a defect- i.e. missing tailfin, missing missile point on wingtips, etc. Not one of them are flawless. Is this just the way things are with this scale or should I send them back for replacement?

Why not check the measurements of the full sized a/c to the models & go from there? Just a little math.

I've never heard of CAP Aero or Mountford, but Google says these are model ship makers. I assume these models are teeny tiny scale?

If the 3-pack is all so badly moulded I'd look to send it back and demand a good quality set. You might be better asking about the quality on model ship forums as they'd have more experience with these makers.

Also, have you got a set of A/B/C/D Hornets, and one of E/F Super hornets? Because the Superbug is quite a bit bigger than the "Legacy" Hornet. That might account for the size difference. Easiest way to check is the E/F's much larger LERXs and squared, "stealthy" intakes compared to the smaller round ones on the original design.

Were the measurements made with Imperial or Metric?

As it's US probably that strange mixture of Imperial with metric units they use eg 1 US Ton = 2,000lbs, 1 Imperial = 2,240lbs

No wonder no one pays with Imperials any more!  ;D

It gets worse than that.

My last employer's desigin office, in Minneapolis MN, started to produce what they called 'Universal' fixtures and actuators. These had all the usually un-used bolts and screw threads in US sizes and the bits that the customers bolted their cars to in Metric. In the Service Dept we had to double up on all our tools, and then HQ asked why our margins were smaller that year.............. <sigh>
