I am probably wrong as I am not a naval buff, but didn't the landing areas for helo's have a circle painted on the decks or am I out of date?

They used to but now they use the lines on the flight deck to verify their position

I *KNOW* I am "out of date", but I figure now there is ultra-sensitive GPS that can put you down in its own "circle", possibly "painted" on your screen but not the carrier herself.

As a WW II carrier junkie, I really find it odd that there would be TWO distinct islands, what with the wind vortexes created. A well-done model, that's fersure!

My mind is like a compost heap: both "fertile" and "rotten"!

The QEII is VERY wide though, and doesn't have an angled deck, so perhaps they've figured that the turbulance from the twin islands wouldn't spread too far astern?
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

That or the SHOLs require there to be a bit of red wind over the deck pushing the wake off to starboard?

Though there are also advantages to having the wind come from the other side too.

All Sea Kings retire in 2016 including the ASaC MK7, the current plan is to use a bolt on system to the Merlin HM-2 which also provide the ASW cover. MASC went into limbo with the switch to CATOBAR as they relised they had the time and the capability to explore a greater variety of systems. With the switch back to STOVL the pressure is back on and its likley the ASaC gear will be stripped off the Sea Kings, fitted to a palet system and configured for use on a Merlin

Looks like the Navy needs these Geoff

That's going to be one BIG ship!  :o

Here's a photo of a piece of QE being towed out of Portsmouth a couple of weeks ago:

Very definitely a big ship.

Excellent build, Thorvic - wish I had the skill to pull something like this off.
