...when the Royal Australian Navy intruduced the two-tone grey wraparound livery on their A-4G Skyhawk, or if it has been used on earlier aircraft, too?

So far I could only find Skyhawks in this outfit, no other RAN types, and not find a definitive date yet. To me it seems as if this new "fashion" started in the very early 80ies?

Just trying to find a suitable livery for a vague future project...

As I was in the same hangar as the A-4G Skyhawks back in the early 80's I should know this (but I don't) - I was working on S-2E/G Trackers on the other side of the hangar.

"In Australian service, the SKYHAWKs retained USN serial numbers, preceded by the RAN serial prefix for the SKYHAWK - N13. These were supplemented by a side number painted on the nose of the aircraft. All 20 SKYHAWKs were delivered in standard USN Light Gull Grey and White colours, but a major change came in 1979 when the surviving aircraft were repainted in an overall pattern of Aircraft Grey and Light Admiralty Grey camouflage."

Actually, that's not quite true, as there were still 2 or 3 (one of the TA-4G's & at least one of the single seaters) still running around in USN Light Gull Grey over White in 1984, when I left the RAN.

Ah, many, many thanks for the help - this kills a colour variant for my project, though (since 1979 is much too late for my plans), but it clears things up considerably and opens new design options
