French Navy A-7E Corsair II (paper, 1:200)

In the early 70ies, the newly formed Aérospatiale tried to promote the A-7 Corsair II as a replacement for the Etendard IVM. The navy actually prefered the A-4 Skyhawk (2 examples were tested on the Foch in 1972) but finally got the Super Etendard.

Here is my take on a french navy Corsair in 1:200. It draws heavily on the profile published in issue #492 of le Fana de l'Aviation even if I chose a different unit. Sadly, I don't have a 1:200 exocet to hang under the wing.

Gorgeous! I really have a huge respect for paper aircraft model, and this is SO tiny - amazing!

Beyond that, it's a nice whif idea..

Presumably you print out the whiffed shapes then cut and assemble them? How do you get the original shapes in the first place though?

No 3D modeller was used when designing this model. I'm totally incompetent when it comes to Sketchup so I'm still using the old ways, Inkscape and a 4 view plan. The design thread is here (in french).

One wonders how big an Aircraft carrier would be in 1/200 scale.
