1/144 NASA SLS Block 1

I guess this just about qualifies as a whiff - as in what if it doesn't get cancelled 

My latest resin creation, the Block 1 version of the Space Launch System. The kit is based on the Block 1 SLS-1000X configuration from the 'Space launch System Program Launch Vehicle Specification' document issued by NASA 26th Jan 2012, and uses a stretched version of the Shuttle External Tank as its core stage, with four RS-25 SSME engines and two 5-segment boosters. I've painted it in the black/white scheme shown in the NASA publicity material, though I suspect that after the first couple of flights it will probably revert to the bare orange/brown insulation seen on the Shuttle tank.

I'm also building the Block 0 version, with a standard length tank core and 4-segment boosters - though it is unlikely that this version will ever be built by NASA.



Next on the workbench is the cancelled Constellation launchers, Ares 1, Ares V ( big ! ), and Ares IV ( Ares V with Ares 1 upper stage )

Blimey Martin, you must have bought up a complete productiion run of Airfix Saturn kits to build that lot!

I laughed like a drain over Martin's EB-66 as that's EXACTLY what I produced by accident a couple of years back when looking for a space to spot a Hawkeye radome!
