Well done Pyro.

Landing gear modifications begun.  Borrowing some "tundra" tires from the Boeing family line.  Kit 737 nose wheel tires on the sprue will be replaced by B-29/KC-97 tires.

Kit nose gear tires are on the sprue immediatley below the nose gear on the B-29 "Flatbed".  I have another donor kit so the Flatbed will remain intact.

Completed.  1/200 737-200 modified for rough field/snow/ice/gravel.
Engines moved to top of wings to reduce F.O.D.
Skis mounted, wheels still in place that protrude through the skis to allow ski/wheel option.

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

They are just physical manifestations of collisions between enigma & conundrum particles.

Hmm! that's a novel way of doing it, certainly wouldn't have any problem with foreign object ingestion ---

As an aside, I was watching a new 'Ice Pilots' episode last week, where one of the Electras Buffalo uses had a main u/c leg get stuck and they had to do a two-leg landing to save as many engines as they could for salvage, and in the back ground you could see a couple of the 737's which had the gravel kit (not up close though)

I was watching a show about the original company in Alaska that made the fist ski-wheels for airplanes. It was fasinating and I learned a lot about ski-wheel use. Then here you are with this great build.
Really good build of a different subject.

Nifty. One question - where do the skis go when the gear retracts?
Some of my models can be found on my Flickr album >>>HERE<<<

Thank you all for the comments.  I was a little worried about the jet eflux on the horizontal stablizer, but there was plenty of clearance.

Pyro. In thought carfully about the skis when retracted.  The skis would retract and be flush with the fuselage like many ski equipped aircraft.  The nose gear would be fairly simple like the LC-130 ski fit.  The main gear skis woud have a pivot point on the main strut and rotate 90 degrees on retraction to lay flat.  I did not model the full pivot points due to the small scale.  You can't see them in the first set of pictures, but I made a cut out in the main ski to allow this rotation.

I added a few shots to better show the skis.
