I remember back when I was a kid, I saw pictures of the Saab.18 maritime patrol bomber. I thought that it was a cool looking airplane. When I cross-kitted an Airfix Do.17E with a Monogram Do.17Z to build a Yugoslav Do.17K, I had enough parts left to build a "Whiffie". With the bug-eye nose and twin tails combined with inline engines, I was immediately reminded of the Saab.18. Ah-ha! The Swedes absolutely needed a big brother for their homegrown maritime twin. The wings and fuselages of both builds were almost a perfect match, needing only a little trimming at the wing roots. I brush-painted the Do.17S(S for Sweden) with a home-brewed Humbrol Olive Green and Pale Blue paint job. The decals came from the scrapbox.

The Wooksta!

The Swedes *nearly* got the Do 17Z, or rather, the export version with DB 601s, the Do 215.  But war broke out, the RLM placed an export ban on everything and they were used by the Luftwaffe instead.
