I am not much good at these software things so i hope this works.  I heard recently that some manufacturer was going to produce an Me 262 E which was the proposed version with additional rockets under wing and in the nose, the so-called "bomber buster".  I did conversion about a year ago in 48 scale. Sorry about the quality of the photos - I will try to get better.  The 1946 camo is based on aircraft hiding in forests to avoid the ground attack allied aircraft which is where they would have been most vulnerable and where they spent most of their time.  I figured the camo was less important once they were airborne, relying on superior speed as their best defense.

Hope you like

Hi dumaniac,

Nice Schwalbe with some interesting weaponry. Interesting camo scheme too. If it was done free-hand then that's a Well Done!

Re posting pics, you have to use the IMG code: when you're on Photobucket, choose the pic you want to post, click "get media links" from the roll-down menu when you move your cursor to the top right corner of the photo, choose the last link at the bottom and paste it into your reply on this site.

Hope this helps.

Where did you get the underwing rockets and racks?

thanks for your guidance - I am an old guy and this computer stuff does not come easy to me - I always seem to turn left when all the other computer people are turning right (my daughters just roll their eyes at my incompetence).  I have struggled a number of times to start a thread but always fouled it up.

Love the site and check it every day for ideas - there are lots of very skilled and inspirational builders out there.

Will post something again using your guidance

cheers

There is a guide on how to post from Photobucket elsewhere on the site. However the b's at PB have changed things around. I'll get around to updating the guide and then let people know.

thanks for your response - me and computers will never be on a first name basis - so any guidance will be delightfully received

I have a few more conversions I would like to post so ....... I'll see how I go

cheers

I buy old Monogram kits of the 262 in 48 scale whenever I can get them cheap - I feel less guilty about putting a razor-saw through them.  Most come with a pair of underwing pads and x12 rockets (the rockets come as a one piece moulded as a 12 pack).

In my conversion, it was simple enough to cut-and-but 2 sets under each wing (I still have a stack of rockets etc) - if you look carefully, you can see the join despite the filler etc.  The nose rockets are one set of underwing rockets (with 2 cut off to fit in the space in the nose) warmed and pressed over a paint bottle to get the correct arc, and then pushed back into the slot in the nose.  I had to provide a rounded rocket rack (plasticard) inside the nose (you can't see it so detail does not matter) otherwise the rockets keep falling in backwards.

It is actually a simple conversion - the paint was not what i wanted but it was my first go at that sort of black-and-colour scheme and I was never quite happy with the brightness (so I dulled it down) and then the dullness of the scheme - such is life.
