I came across a decal sales site with a page giving the colour scheme for the "Skipper" character's Spitfire from "Battle of Britain".

http://www.fundekals.com/MH434_Spitfire.html

There's a downloadable PDF available which gives a good quality 3-view of the scheme - including detailing the minor mistakes the film's production designers made. In fact, it looks as though all of the decal sets offered on the site have these previews.

You'll need to start with an Airfix mk IXc, which apart from needing some possible rescribing and sanding on the wing (To remove the cannon blisters - you need to keep the wheel blister as it's a post war machine), looks to be the perfect basis.

Best way to fill the holes for the cannons?  Attach and sand back.  Did it with a PR conversion of the Airfix IX.
