CVA-01 was going to be pretty darn wide, looking at Thorvic's 1/700 model.

Honestly, it's the honest ones you have to watch out for!!!

WONDERFULL.

It just looks so right.

Any aircraft can be improved by giving it a SHARKMOUTH!

Gondor

May I suggest a slight change.

An adjustment of the trailing edge of the wings from the outboard side of the booms to the first flap track housing to make that as straight line rather than the kink that exists there at the moment.

Looks good though

I know it's in a book I have around here somewhere....

That's pretty darn good lenny, miles better than mine which is istill in its project box!

They look like airliner wings to me, with those flap track fairings sticking out the back, or have you figured where they cam from now?

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

CVA-01 was going to be pretty darn wide, looking at Thorvic's 1/700 model.

Thats because the CVA-01 had its flight deck with a very small angle as it was more efficient at sailing into the wind for the landing cycle, and with the large sponsons of the design it could do this (Rebuilding the Royal Navy shows this design layout and the original traditional angld deck configuration). With its Alaskan highway it mean t aircraft could be marshalled behind the island leaving space to larger aircraft to land, although they were thinking more USN Skywarriors and Hawkeyes or their own Gannet AEW replacement.

The larger wings of the PR2 wouldn't be a problem regarding the width, it was more the folding up to fit the RN deck lifts and space in the hanger that proved to to be the biggest factor.

As mentioned, thats a very smart looking join on the wings.

With respect to Gondor`s comment, I actually like the kink in the trailing edge as I feel it adds character to the design with that 1950`s/60`s look to it.
(There you go, that should keep you up at night....)
