While building the XB-51 I have come up with a slight problem! On viewing the aircraft from above, noticed that the 'wing walk area' is a different shade than the overall silver finish. Looking at USN aircraft, ( Hawkeyes) the area is in a gunmetal grey....what do you suggest?

Your favorite brand of gun metal colored paint? I've found out there are several shades with the same name sold under different brand names.

I've always used a flat gray like slate or Testors battleship. From what I've seen, the walkways are always a matt colour and roughed for anti-slip grip ?

But if going gunmetal you can't miss with good old Humbrol 53 !

Not wing walks, corogard/coroguard anti-corrosion coating, aluminized clear epoxy, over the
wing box-spar area. Common on jets to this day, military and civil. Airliner modelers often
have decal options.

And you can get Corogard in decal form too. It's very common in the 1/144 airliner model world and most civvie decal companies do it, usually for specific airliner types, but plain Corogard sheets are available too. Of course a 747 sheet would do about 4-5 1/72 scale fighters!
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)
