I can think of many much better cars they could have done that scheme on.

In fact ANY car with that scheme would be better than putting it on a Trabbie!  :banghead:

I remember reading that the nickname for Trabbies was "TIGER".

"It's a Tiger because it is certainly not a Jaguar!"

When I was driving to Berlin and back on a regular basis in the 80s and 90s the autobahn past the Helmsted border crossing was littered with dead Trabbies! You'd usually see half a dozen of them, either abandoned or undergoing 'heavy maintenance' on the hard shoulder, often accompanied by a Polizei Polski Fiat.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage

I think they did it just because people felt that way about them.  Their one of those things that are just so bad they are Kool !!!  I remember back in the 80's, I wanted to get one of the Airmodel vac kits but never did find one.

I'm sure you're right there, Trabbies are SO bad they're actually good.  ;D

One of the guys in our Berlin office, who came from East Berlin originally, grafted most of the running gear from a VW Golf R32 under a Trabbie. It still looked total junk but went like CRAZY!

Revell do a 1/24 scale kit of a Trabbie now, or they did a very short time ago, if you're still desirous of getting one Father.

Didn't we have a theme build some time in the past to paint vehicles in aircraft styles?
I did do a tank in a style inspired by naval camo, but not quite the same as these impressive efforts.
In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.

ISTR in the early '70s Aurora catalogs they listed a number of their car models with WWII airplane markings. ISTR a Chapperal Lightning, (P-38), maybe a Porsche of some kind in Me 109 markings and I think something in P-40 markings and I think a Corvette in airplane markings.
