If it comes to it, figure the costs involved for a 50 unit run and then solicit pre-orders / backers.  Once you hit your magic number then put the bird into production.

The FD 3 was a huge beast so it's per kit cost will take some keen figuring.  It'd also be heavy in resin - have you thought of using wire cores for the landing gear?

Polystyrene or balsa could be used as core material to help reduce the amount of resin and weight.
