@Cobra: Yes, I got the link. Thanks.
Modeling isn't just about how good the gluing or painting, etc. looks. It's also about how creative and imaginative you can be with a subject.
My modeling philosophy is: Don't build what everyone else has done. Build instead what nobody has seen or done before.

Captain Canada

That's pretty wild ! Turned out awesome eh ? Good idea to have the cross section in there as well, really gives you an idea of what's going on.

Typical look what comes out now !!, a couple of those sets would have been ideal for this project  :banghead:

Swell.  :banghead: My Habakkuk has been done for a long time and look what now shows up! Sheesh! Too little, too late. Where were these aircraft when I REALLY needed them long ago. *sigh*

In other news........I'm giving consideration to building another 1/700 Habakkuk in the future, but one which will be more accurate according to the article and diagrams written by William J. Wallace in Warship magazine long ago. But if I do another Habakkuk, I'll just re-use (rob) the engines, superstructure, guns, etc. from my first Habakkuk instead of making new stuff all over again.

PR19_Kit

I've lived on airfields smaller than that!  :o

Superb bit of modelling nonetheless, well spotted seadude.  :thumbsup:
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

It's not by me, but look what I found on the Net tonight in 1/1250 scale.  :blink:

I call "Wuss" for not doing a full hull.  Or in 1/700th.  You sir, did an awesome job with what limited resources were available when you started.

It does look nice, though I can't agree with the deck edge aircraft elevators. But.......to each their own I guess.  :rolleyes:  I'm currently contemplating plans for a new 1/700 Habakkuk, though I may want to show an interior cutaway INSIDE the actual ship hull, rather than just a separate small section like I showed for my previous model.

Sorry for posting in this thread again. I just love this subject too much.  ;D  :wub: Anyway, I'm going to try and rebuild all new aircraft for my Habakkuk carrier. I've got TONS of the following:
* TBF Avenger torpedo bomber
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grumman_TBF_Avenger
* F6F Hellcat carrier-based fighter aircraft
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grumman_F6F_Hellcat
* SBD Dauntless naval scout plane and dive bomber
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Douglas_SBD_Dauntless
* F4F Wildcat carrier-based fighter aircraft
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grumman_F4F_Wildcat
* TBD Devastator torpedo bomber
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Douglas_TBD_Devastator
* SB2C Helldiver carrier-based dive bomber
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curtiss_SB2C_Helldiver
* B-25 Mitchell twin engined medium bomber
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_American_B-25_Mitchell

Unfortuneately, not all of the aircraft were used by America AND Britain. Only the TBF, F4F, F6F, and B-25 were used by Britain. So here's my questions:
1. How many of each aircraft should I build and put on the Habakkuk? Please remember that if a real Habakkuk had entered service, it probably wouldn't be until 1945 or early 1946.
2. How many aircraft should I put in American color schemes and decals? What types of color schemes?
3. How many aircraft should I put in British color schemes and decals? What types of color schemes?

I promised myself I wouldn't do this, but........I guess I had a change of heart, so I'm doing it as a "goodwill gesture".  :wub: Long ago, I made a list of various measurements for the Habakkuk for different modeling scales, etc. So now if someone wants to build a model of the Habakkuk, here are various measurements and scales to use.

Mostly TBFs, some F4Fs or maybe F6Fs. There would not have been much need for fighter aircraft to defend the ship. The TBFs would have carried depth charges and radar, the fighters as escort just in case, and to clear the decks of the u-boat's gun crew if it surfaced, and the older F4F would have sufficed. The F6Fs were needed in the Pacific.
Mitchells could also have served, especially the models with multiple cheek guns or the 75mm cannon.
