Following the confirmation of the order by the Conservative government in the mid 60's, having narrowly beaten Labour to No10, the pace of the TSR2's development raced ahead.
Early problems were overcome and by 1968 production of the first GR1 was ready to be undertaken.  Now given the name Eagle, it entered Sqn service in early 1969.
As the UK's premier frontline tactical srike aircraft, it replaced the venerable Canberra and the aging V-force.
This aircraft of 45 Sqn is seen in it's earliest 3-tone colour scheme still in gloss paints.

I agree with Deathjester - Beautiful.

One of the Eagles I built a while back was a 45 sqn machine, the difference being, I gave mine the dark earth/light stone wrap around scheme that the Buccs at Red flag had.
