What would you do with a Cylon Basestar?

Just thinking ahead......like maybe a year or two down the road. But an idea came to me tonight to WHIF a Battlestar Galactica Cylon Basestar. Not the type from the re-imagined series, but rather the Basestar from the old 1970's series.

1. Convert it into a huge agricultural spaceship using clear domes and plenty of model railroad scenic landscaping.
2. Convert it into a military orbital base. I have plenty of tiny 1/700 scale missile launchers, guns, VLS, etc., etc. to really weaponise it like crazy! But no tiny spacecraft. :(
3. Other ideas?

I kinda like #1 almost. I'm kinda curious to try my hand at playing around with model railroad stuff again, especially scenic stuff. I used to be into model railroading 25+ years ago, but gave up on it as time went by.
Modeling isn't just about how good the gluing or painting, etc. looks. It's also about how creative and imaginative you can be with a subject.
My modeling philosophy is: Don't build what everyone else has done. Build instead what nobody has seen or done before.

At first I saw the two saucers separated with a longer central tube, with docking points for larger attack ships, like Cylon frigates and destroyers.  I don't know if these have already been imagined, but I like what I see in my head.

But then being a huge fan of "Silent Running", I can't help but think how cool having a dome on each side, one a side a farm/agro area with a lake, and the other being like a city center with small parks.  Or something like that.

Now I see one end domed opaque and the other end done with spires, ala "CE3K" mothership.

Wish I had one to play with, but I'd never even get started from the indecision!  Have fun, I look forward to it someday.

Do both...agriculture setting with military interspersed.......kinda like GR.3's in Germany

Saw it in two pieces and glue a Tie Fighter cockpit between the (vertical) halves...  ;D

How about a dome on one side (the "top") & disk (greebled up a bit) on the other (the "bottom") as an orbital habitat. with plants under the dome creating a park, food source & oxygen-generating carbon dioxide scrubber "above" for the people living in the disk "below"? :-\

Two small motors in the middle so the two halves rotate in opposite directions.
In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.

Two big wheels, stick some kind of gyro stabilised carriage in the middle, or buy several and build the mutha of all trucks!

If you want some small space ships, there's a set by Nexus that looks pretty good.  It's 1/500, but a little scalorama won't do any harm.

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Army of One

I say weaponise it and have it as some sort of orbital defence stn. Scratch build any ships out of spare stuff....some 1/72 or 1/48 a/c stores can really lend themselves to making weird looking/sleek space craft....IMHO
