Gleed's Spitfire MkV

Hello my learned friends......I recently got an Airfix 1/24 spit MkV for a bargain price.....I have always liked Gleed's spitfire with the clipped wings. My question is...was his spit fitted with locally made wooden wing tips with no lights or were they factory ones with tip lights....? I have read they were wooden with no lights....I have done a bit of research via google and found, in various scales, many builds of this spit. Some have tip lights and some don't. I haven't found a clear image of the real a/c that shows the tips....many thanks in advance for any help....H

Gleed steampunked his Spit V with extra exhausts, exposed engine showing lots of copper piping, etc...

There was an unusual "ray gun" unit where the 20mm cannon went

Googling for Gleed's Spitfire MkV finds some wartime photos. I didn't find really great photos but cannot see any lights in the ones that I did find.

Always liked that aeroplane myself....my LHS has a 144th scale example hanging from the ceiling, and it's beautiful ! He didn't build it with tip lights, yet thinks they were factory wingtips !

Cheers Cap'n C.....I have read that it was a local mod an they were made of wood minus tip lights on his....however it seems that at some point it became a factory mod with lights on. I'm just confused at seeing so many different models that have been made with an without tip lights on the Internet......

I'd go without. It's such a beautiful aeroplane to begin with, then you clip her wings and add those colours and markings....

Having one more little touch like no lights on wooden tips just seems right !

Selfish motives really...one of my favourite spits, so I'd like to see this get going !
