I combined a Novo repopped FROG Magister, a Chipmunk Canadian canopy, and home-made skis for this one.

Two guys from Lake Woebegone, Minnesota, Sven Swenson and Ole Olafsson. bought a derelict Magister trainer that had been sitting in a barn outside Saskatoon, Saskatchewan to restore. They have been rebuilding old tractors for years and figured that an airplane wouldn't be too hard to do. As it gets pretty cold and snowy in Minnesota, they decided to winterize their plane by adding a modified RCAF DHC Chipmunk canopy to fit the top decking and add a heating system to the plane as well. Using the ingenuity and knowledge passed down to them by their Norwegian forefathers, the built their own skis for the landing gear.

They liked the Canadian wartime Bright Yellow color scheme for trainers, so they copied that. The airplane carries U.S. civil registration as well. It is currently flying on the airshow circuit. The paint is hand-brushed Humbrol Trainer Yellow with three coats of Future. The decals were pieced together from the scrap-box. I scratched the skis from plastic card.

Please don't tell Garrison Keillor that I borrowed his characters from his Prairie Home Companion radio show. I couldn't help it as his Sven and Ole jokes are some of his funniest material.

Adios, Larry.

At first glance it looks just like a Chippie, only later do the subtle differences get noticed.

Nice one, but wouldn't you need much bigger skis in Minnesota? They have LOTS and LOTS of snow there!  ;)
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Captain Canada
