Can you recommend a UK based website to me?

G'day.
My Nephews in the UK have reached an important age - their first model kits.  They are both getting a 1/24 Airfix Spitfire for xmas and Uncle Fred is buying them the paints.
However, the cost of postage from Australia to the UK being what it is It makes sense for me to order what I need from a UK based website for delivery to their mothers for wrapping.
So who should I use?
Recommendations of where to shop please.

Well you could try this one:
http://www.ehattons.com/stocklist/results.aspx?searchfield=Spitfire
Although it's more Railway orientated
Or this one:
http://www.hannants.co.uk
Which is more Plastic Model orientated and probably the one most people here would suggest.
I find both very good.

The British have raised their security level from "Miffed" to "Peeved". Soon though, security levels may be raised yet again to "Irritated" or even "A Bit Cross". Londoners have not been "A Bit Cross" since the Blitz in 1940 when tea supplies ran out for three weeks

Hi Fred

Hannants are probably the biggest http://www.hannants.co.uk/ although you could use Airfix or Humbrol themselves as you can get the paints list from them online http://www.airfix.com/shop/aircraft/124-scale-military-aircraft/a12001a-spuermarine-spitfire-mkia-124/

Do you want me to see what price I can get them for?

zenrat

Thanks folks.
I'd found the Airfix site with the paints list.  They are both getting a Vb and I suspect both my brothers in law will steer their sons away from the USAF scheme towards the "RAF" one (yes, I know it's RCAF but they'll see it as RAF as it has RWB roundels) so I was going to get them the set of Green/Grey camo paints.

I was going to get them both a full set of acrylics, a rattle can of Tamiya grey primer and a set of decent brushes (000 up to something wide for camo with a couple inbetween).
Deathjester - i'm guessing from the link that you are Stromfront models?
I'm always open to saving money so yes please, see what you can do.

Hiya - looked on my suppliers website, they have three different versions:
Mk1a, and MkVb are going to be about £40 each, and there is a BBMF Gift Set which is around £50.  At the moment, they have all three in stock.  Hope that helps

Sorry mate, I think we had a missunderstanding.
My sister has got the kids the kits already.  i was just asking about where I can get the paints,
But thanks for looking for me anyway.

Thanks for the pointers folks. Paints ordered.
hannants seem very short of paint but ehattons had them all bar one colour which i've back ordered (and they are cheaper than getting them direct from Humbrol).
For once i've done some xmas shopping NOT at the last minute.
Wonders will never cease.

Thanks again.

No problem!  Glad you got them all sorted early - really ought to try that someday (sigh)!

How about the little prop motors for that finishing touch ?

zenrat

Thanks but I think that putting together something this size as a first build is going to be challenge enough (does the Airfix 1/24 Spit have an engine or is it a kerbside?*).
I would have suggested a 1/48 kit to start with but what do I know.

*yes, a car modelling term, I know, but is there a plane modelling equivalent?
