Thought I'd put details of the PC-69 'Connie Francis' up here as it fits into the topic.
The kit started life as a 1/72 Heller C-69 Military Air Transport, Berlin Air Lift. On the wing tips two auxiliary turbojets from a Neptune kit. Two sets of the Griffon engines for extends cowlings. Nose radome is from a P-3 Orion. Forward gun turrets are off the Northrop Flying wing contra-propeller version( uppper and lower), rear gun barbet is off the B-50. Two vertical tail fins. Middle float is from a Revell SeaMaster and the sponsors are from an ESCI V-22 Osprey including the wheels and landing gear.
As the model has been painted six times the exterior details and a few of the windows have disappeared. It now has a black mat finish with satin black windows.
Been reading about the B-29 Bomber being hassled by Russian fighter aircraft in the early days of the Vietnam War, so I thought that the Connie Francis could be an escort aircraft or amphibious attack/light bomber.

Work has stopped on the tanker, for now and will resume after the AEW & C builds have been finished. Probably combine the two. As I now have four RR Tyne engines from two Revell Atlantic kits in the stash.

Another idea for the Warning Star. Is to have it as a joint tanker. Either use parts from either 1/72 Academy KB-29P or KC-97. Could also use hose & drogue tanks under the wings or on the wingtips.

I've found the resin 1/48 lifeboat for the SB-17 conversion kit. I'll see if this can be used as a SpeedPack.
Been going through other Whiffer builds on the C-121 , interesting paint schemes. I could use this on the Connie Francis.

A jet version could still be built as the resin CFM/T33 engines could be modified to fit with the exhaust pipes running over the wings.
Another thought of mine is a three engine layout similar to the Tri-Dakota, with an engine in the nose and the wings shorter or kitbashed from another kit ie the Revell Br.1150 Atlantic. I did experiment with the wings from a C-130 and even the Avro Shackleton Mk3 with the landing gear fitted from a Heller C-69. The Shackleton wings are a bit too close to the fuselage and need a plug from another kit to extend the wing.
Haven't given up on the amphibious version, just a case of finding the right hull from a donor sea plane that will fit.
Do 24 or Do 26 seem a likely fit, minus their wings.

The refueller sounds good.

Not a fan of the jet or tri-engined examples tho.

If you troll around the web looking for the bird, try adding Argentia Newfoundland. Some cool pics here and there from the old naval days. Love the blue with orange panel look !

CANADA KICKS arse !!!!

Still got a few more ideas for the Connie. A T-tail version . I would in the past have used parts from the Airfix BAe Nimrod to create a weapons bay, but these are getting a bit scarce these days and the prices are starting to rise.
A six engined version would work. Heller seems to of re-released the EC-121W.

Bought the 1/72 RVHP resin 7261 conversion set for the Lockheed EC-121L WV-2E Warning Star.
Inside there the box you get there parts. Upper & lower rotodome plus stand. The rotodome is the size of a side plate and heavy as well.Decals are for the EC-121L (126512) of the Pacific Missile Test Range, Point Mugu in the mid-1960s.This aircraft acted as the prototype for the systems evaluation later used on the E-3A Sentry.
The rotodome housed the APS-82 radar.
The W2V-1 was to be a model 1649 powered by four Allison T56A turboprops and two J-34 turnovers.
The instructions are easy and there are two kits to choose as donor aircraft;
Heller  EC-121L from WV-2 do not use the radomes and wingtip tanks.
If using the L-1049 fill in the square windows and make new as per drawings.

Haven't tried using T-56As on a Connie. ( works well on the  two outer engines on a C-97).
Got the Heller Warning Star and Airfix Super-G in the

Here's the Rolls-Royce Griffon engined variant of the Lockheed Constellation 'Blue Bird ' with a Lockheed Neptune in the background.
