1st Belgian Aviation Day, Ostend Airport

Last weekend, i visited the first (now most likely to be Annual) Aviation Day.
during this day, various large and small airfields and airports all over Belgium open up theyre doors to the public.

i decided to visit the local airport of Ostend, some 12 kilometers away (a good 30 to 45 minute bikeride) and it appeared to be more worth it then i first thought. i really hope they do this again next year

The Sea King is to die for....as usual. Love that last shot of her taxiing. Very nice photography. A great shot of all the little details.

That MD11F is interesting, all over grey, tiny titles and no reggie anywhere as far as I can see.

Apparently Nordic Global Airlines are the air freight arm of Finnair but why the 'stealth' scheme? Perhaps it's just cheap?

"Kustwacht" is Dutch for Coast Guard, this particular Dornier Do228 is from the Netherlands Coast Guard, operating from Den Helder.

they land here quite often, just like the World Airways cargo MD-11's, Atlas Air 747-200/400 freighters and EgyptAir Airbus A300's.
the only passenger activity we see here are JetAir 737-700/800's and ERJ-190.
other airliners are only during the summer season (Tunisair, Freebird, Thomas Cook,...).

Good to see someone refurbishing an old Cessna 310.

that old cessna has been there for years, its part of the VLOC (Flemish Aviation College) is is mostly an instructional airframe, just like the old piper and ex-Gendarmerie/Rijkswacht (now Belgian Federal Police) Alouette II.
outside the college they also have an old ex-DHL (or FedEx) Boeing 727 (in What-If scheme, i might take a picture of it next time im nearby).
