Maybe not exactly non-violent protest with the torpedo, but if the French could get away with bombing a Green Peace vessel and the hunting is given the legal green light, then it's time to go deep ecology and get yo eco-terrorist to save the cetacea.

Love it
Whatever.

every seaplane is beautiful  ;)
but this interpretation on the Swordfish is beautiful :
adopting the seashpherd scheme and colors looks good!
(I might try that patter some day in the colors of the famous Calder DC-8 : red-yellow-blue)

Non-violent protest has its place but there are times where one swift focussed act of violence will achieve more than many many peaceful objectors.
Sinking the Nisshin Maru would have been that act had the international court failed to see reason.

I just hope that they're going to clean up the oil spill.
Whatever.

zenrat

For that i'll be building a Sea Shepherd Lancaster with a bomb bay full of chux wipes...

He wasn't pulling your leg but it only works on relatively light surface slicks and requires wave action to break the slick up.  See - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dispersant#Oil_spill

I am planning a Sea Shepherd Lancaster but it'll be more along the lines of an unarmed whale watcher with lots of big panoramic windows for people to look out of.

Hmm, I'm seeing a wrap-around glazed nose and glass bottomed bomb bay.

Rather like a Mk.32 Lincoln?

I could see a Lanc with a perspex bubble nose, a row of outward facing seats (alternating left & right) along the centre-line of the bomb bay with a long curved perspex window low on each side (conforming with the contours of the aircraft) & another bubble at the rear. I could also see these Mk.1 Eyeball search positions being supplemented by 1 or more high-tech search camera domes/balls (below the chin & the rear bubble, plus maybe one under each wing).

PS: I would see this aircraft being used primarily for survey work - plotting pod numbers & migration tracks, & counting numbers & ages/sizes within pods, for scientific monitoring purposes - with a possible secondary role of running interference for the pods in areas where whalers are operating - possibly by deploying buoys emitting sounds which will scare the whales away from the area which are dropped from chutes in the lower fuselage behind the ex-bomb bay.
Has a life outside of What-If & wishes it would stop interfering!

Excellent OW.  You've put into words what I was thinking but done it better than I could have.

I'm not sure quite how I will civilianise it or where exactly the (large circular - i'm planning to use stick on Googly eyes) windows will be but it will have no turrets at all.

I love the look of the Mk.32 Lincoln.  Could they have made it any longer?

This is political unfair accusation, you condemn a population for what its president decided all alone. :-\
