I just ordered the Valom kit of the Salmon (stupid name BTW IMO*).
I've done a thorough search of the forum and while a number of people appear to have bought a kit and announced it to be ideal Whiffing material, and others have written detailed alternate histories there seems to be little in the way of actual building that has gone on.
Anyone got anything they haven't shown?

I'm thinking of a CAS bird retaining the VTOL aspect and operating from small forest clearings.

* although it does look a bit like a fish - how about a "Nemo" camo job?...

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

It never had an "official' name so it got it's name from the test pilot who flew it, Herman Salmon
If I'm not building models, I'm out riding my dirtbike

PR19_Kit

The Valom kit is by far the best of the XFV-1s out there. The Airmodel vacform is almost unbuildable, although it does have a good rendition of the injected 'standard mode' landing gear, and the Pegasus kit is seriously hard work, even though I'm biased toward it as it's the only kit of any type that carries my name on the box.  ;D
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Kit

Lying in bed last night I was thinking about making it a tail sitting VTOL floatplane...

McColm

Will the floats fold during take off or inflate and deflate?

Dizzyfugu

Or rotate? Mounted on the wing tips...?

An inflatable "swing ring" would also look nice/weird/sick...

zenrat

Seeing as it would take off and land from and onto it's tail the floats could be streamlined pods like wingtip tanks.
I do have a collection of 1/48 drop tanks which could prove suitable as it's a 1/72 kit.
