The original Dart-stang was parked at Canberra airport for many years where I saw it several times.  It never flew and was later converted back to a Merlin engine when it was sold to someone in the US, IIRC.

Everything looks good with Darts.

I bought an old Eastern ( or whomever ) kit of the HP Dart Herald thinking the same thing.....yet to decide what to put them on tho !

A new KP Avia S-199 in Israeli and Czech boxings, and apparently, it's a NEW MOULD:

LOADS of whiffy potential for that one......

The first one looks like it would make an easy turbine conversion

I think you know! ;)

PS: The only real difference between them is that the Czech variant has a bubble canopy. (More suited to turbo-prop conversion?)

One problem with using the Dart Herald kit for such conversions is the assymetric nature of the engine pods on that aircraft. There's quite a large intake (an oil cooler maybe?) on the inboard side of each engine and if you decide to do without it there'll be a largish hole to fil in.

Oil Cooler (or whatever) intake on one side and exhaust outlet on the other.
No problem.
Nothing wrong with a bit of asymmetry anyway.
Roll on a Darterschmitt I say.

I'm always on the look out for a source of cheap 1/72 turboprops.  No luck so far.  :-\

How about the Heller Bobcat Transall C-160?

It's a clip-together kit so tends to be cheap but it's moulded in styrene so you can glue it as well. It's got two hefty Tynes hung on the wing of course.

Relatively rare and expensive on EvilBay, Kit.

It's easier to get the genuine Heller C-160 or the Revel one.  Alternatively for Tynes you could use the various Altantic kits. There are plenty of T-56 Turboprops around for Hercules in resin from various sources.  Heritage do the aforementioned Dart for either the Mustang Cavalier or the Dart Dakota.   What is missing is a good source of turboprops of other types, preferably without having to butcher a complete kit to get them.

Thanks guys.  I have seen the resin sets.
What I want to know is what happens to the original styrene nacelles after the conversion has been done?
They must be out there languishing in the bottom of the spares box of someone who wouldn't know a whiff if it bit them.

Can't imagine why, it's rubbish compared to the Revell or even its fellow 'glue together' version. The clip bits mean you end up with massive gaps everywhere.

Heritage Aviation does two turbo-prop conversions for Dakotas (DC-3/C-47), a Dart engine as used by BEA and a PT6 conversion as used in Basler types. They also do the Dart-Stang too.

I've done a little searching and found the DC-3 Dart conversion, cannot find the PT6 though, anyone have a link?

So wouldn't that be a DC3 Dartkota?
I'd be more interested in a PBY Dartalina, P38 Dartning or B29 Super Dartress myself...
