Hello all;

Yesterday, I was up in Ostrava to see the annual NATO Day military show. Photography conditions we not optimal, with a lot of haze and diffused sun in the morning.

Here's a selection of some of the aviation related goings on of the day:

Any and all comments welcome, thanks for looking.

Now that's what you call a mix of types!

Great pics, despite the conditions.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Yup nice pics. I especially like the Osprey take off

Now that's my kind of airshow ! Did the Phantoms fly ? What a treat to even see them on the ground....funny how the recce version was always my least favourite, but now I seem to love the way they look !

I bet the Osprey was a good display too.

Thanks for sharing !

The Phantoms didn't display, but I was happy to see them all the same.

The Osprey didn't really display as such. It started off in the static park and then got wheeled out to the taxiway and went through preflight checks for about an hour after which it took off, did a couple of passes over the field in helicopter configuration then headed home to Mildenhall.

The Osprey left a lot of folks a bit disappointed as it was initially scheduled to be there for both Saturday and Sunday though it was announced on Friday that it couldn't stay longer than Saturday. The lack of display was also a point of complaint. No really precise explanation was given.

Too bad, but at least you got to see it !

Nick and I saw that Viggen at Waddington last year, what a machine that is ! Can still turn and burn with the best of 'em eh ?

Also forgot to mention the German Sea King....love that machine, and she looks so good in those colours !

True, better to see it briefly than not at all. I can't gripe too much as I also got to walk through it while it was in the static park.

The Viggen was great and I'm really happy with my pictures of it as they were cropped an enlarged from larger images taken at the max of my camera's zoom. I was skeptical of getting anything presentable out of them.

I agree with you about the German Sea King. That German navy camo has a very sinister quality about it; it looked great on the Tornadoes too when they still used them.
