was looking at the secret projects forum and they had a little bit on the Military Herald could have been an interesting project.

You mean like this one?

An excellent job there Brian. I'd forgotten that you'd done that, and it still looks great despite the vast amount of PSR you had to do on it.

Thanks, Kit but I think it looks great because of the "vast amount of PSR" I had to do on it!  ;D ;D

If it hasn't already been mentioned the Su-27 Swan (Flanker). I read somewhere that these were offered if the EuroFighter was delayed in entering service. These would have been the export model without engines or avionics.

The Wooksta!

Except the airframe wouldn't work with Rolls Royce engines.  Harmonics difficulties.

There must have been alternative engines available?

Would four Allison T56 turboprops had worked better on the Convair R3Y Tradewind if they had been fitted?
I know that there were problems with the Allison T40-A1-10s, or the RR Tynes could have been a good alternative..
No doubt the RAF would have used the Tradewind for transport, cargo and SAR. I'd like to think a ASW and tanker version. Could even been used as  Combo airliner.
The problems could have been sorted out with Shorts knowhow of flying boats and Roll-Royce in the engineering department.
Could even go a step further and be apart of the C-130 sea plane.
Pity the 1/72 kit is so expensive, I'll have to kitbash the Revell 1/72 BV-222 Wiking into something similar.
