Guy i have to admit tho that the FV4005 Stage 1 has got be very interested  ;D i do like me big guns and that is a model for the future thats for sure .
I agree ..i got the better end of the stick hahahaha but yes i agree ..this is a low profile super modern tank hunter so low is the word of the day .
Tomorrow i will pull out the tank and start letting the mind over go it and see whats needed to turn this into what the final model will look like .
I will be easy with the hull as its brand new so hacking and slashing will be a pleasure ,,the turret is a different matter so i'll have to strip that down to clean plastic and then let the mind go to work again ....this part wont be easy as the M109 turret is a pretty boring chunk ..thats gonna need a heap of work to change its shape to what i have in mind ....which i think you guys will like  <_<

Yup, that's a big gun, alright!

But we're looking at fitting it into a turreted tank destroyer with a low-profile here, Brian, & I'd suggest that the 7.2in Conway SPG is anything but. ;D

When you have a gun that big, you can hide behind any hill you like and dominate the battlefield from a long, long, long, long way away!  Height allows you to adopt reverse slopes much easier, allowing a better depression angle.  ;)

One day i will hunt down as much info as possible on that beast and build it ..the hardest part will be the gun ...which in most instants is always the issue ...but thats for later .
Still thinking about this next build ...trying to get a picture of the final result ..i want cool and modern but not stupid ...things have to flow ..they have to gell and the main area of thought is the gun..gotta make it look seriously cool and i think you guys will like what i am going to do with a world war two German 128mm gun

I was at a Hobby shop in Hamilton a few years back, and he had 4 or 5 Centurion kits, 15 to 20 dollars each. Of course I was there to buy motorcycle kits, and was under the impression that he always had a large stock. Upon my return visit, he does have a large stock, of 72nd scale aeroplanes ! 48th scale and armour are the big movers he said, and when he goes to shows they sell out. Oh well, lesson learned !

PS-off to eBay I go

5,25in?  Bah!  The British were seriously looking at a 7.2in SP gun in the FV4005 Conway, which was built on a Centurion hull with a automatic gun.

Looks like a naval mount stuck onto a tank chassis.
In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.

Found out some info on the  FV4005 Conway, ..turns out if they fired the thing with the turret swung to the side it would end up on it side cause the recoil was so powerful ..that i would love to see  ;D

FV4005, Stage 2 Turret mounted on Centurion Hull

you,re getting your cent variants muddled

FV4004 was the conway (interim heavy gun tank) which mounted a 120 mm gun off of the conqueror tank then under development

the FV 4005 was a 183mm tank destroyer that required a rear earth anchor to prevent movement when firing like SPGs
