According to Hannants, the owner of Huma is retiring and the future of the brand is uncertain, so they've stocked up on anything they can get:

I'd like a Do.27 and a Wal, but I can't justify spending that kind of money at the moment.... :banghead:

Yes, Huma do lovely stuff, albeit a tad pricey.

I hope it continues in the same vein, he did some inovative models for sure.

Yes, Huma has been in financial trouble and was temporarily closed down, AFAIK. For some time the company owner's wife sold kit stock via ebay for reasonable prices (a friend got some, almost all types of the kits), but the company seems back to business now, probably a re-start.
The early kits can be a bit simple, even clumsy, typical short run products. Anyway, the more recent moulds like the Wal or the Drache helicopter are gorgeous - all styrene, but so fine that you wonder why someone would ask for PE parts. Prices are steep, yes, but you get something for it (unlike 'things' from Mach 2, for example...).

Yup some nice stuff in the range and it goes together well enough. You need to do some modelling but isn't that what we are ?

a Fa-223 Drache! cool, gonna have a look on Hannants right now to see if they have any, and just how pricey they are.

Edit: Nope, at least not that I could find :banghead:

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Huma have never really been cheap and although they were firsts in many instances, their kits have been surpassed by others.  For example, the Me 263 by Special Hobby, the He 280 and Hs 132* by RS and the Me P.1101 by Dragon.

I suspect that it's a copy of the old Airmodel vacform.  Still a nice kit though, even if a little basic.

Yup. Huma's USP had been unique German aircraft, realized or just projects, and compared with other kits at the time when they were released (90ies or so), they were a bt simple but OK - just pricey, for the fact that the only other option might have been a vacu kit or scratch the thing completely. These kits were and are rather overpriced, esp. for today's standards.
The more recent kits are pricey, too, but they are on a VERY high IP level that is not behind Japanese standards. Still pricey, though, but people also hand over bundles of Green for Hasegawa kits that also offer doubtful value in return.

I've enjoyed the Huma kits I've built. A little bit of extra work needed but not so much as to spoil the enjoyment.

I'm darned if I will, not to those greedy gits!

I've got 4-5 different Huma kits and I've been quite pleased with all of them, but perhaps my standards of acceptability were set in the age of 2/- Airfix kits, Lindberg 'fit the box' offerings and Aurora 'What IS that anyway?' models.  ;D

Now that does surprise me.
